The design for the Locahc Pelican Cloak is made up of over 130 individually embroidered pieces, all worked in tent stitch, in silk on linen:
- Devices and names of the Order of the Pelican (122 as at March 2011)
- 22 Lochac border pieces
- 22 Pelican border pieces
- 1 Pelican device
The pieces are being worked by members of the Order of the Pelican, their friends and the Worshipful Company of Broiderers.
Decorative pieces
The diamond Pelican and Lochac pieces fill the front border. These were worked by Marienna Jensatter, Katarina de Brescia, Francesca di Lucinano, Miriam Galbraith, Ginevra and Rowan Perigrynne.
The Pelican fillls the central back partition (worked by Rowan).
Bryony of the Bees worked petitpoint patches for the original Pelican cloak. These have been removed and applied to the inside border of the new cloak, to provide continuity.
